Confirmation

Overview

Many of you were baptized as infants or small children. At Your Baptism, God claimed you as God's own and promised you new life in Jesus Christ. God Promised to give you the Holy Spirit to forgive your sins and to give you eternal life. All this God promised to you as a free and underserved gift because God loves you and sent Jesus into the world to die for your sake.

In our Confirmation program, we teach young people about this relationship that God has established with them in their baptism. This program invites young people to explore their faith, grow into their relationship with the church through worship and participation, and use their gifts to glorify God.

Our Confirmation Program is a 2-year program for all 7th and 8th graders.

Class Expectations

Confirmation classes are held from September through May. Classes will be held from 6:30 - 8 pm in Fellowship Hall, following the schedule below.

Students will have assigned readings as homework, and are expected to complete that homework before coming to class.

Other Expectations

Students are expected to attend church regularly. They are asked to hand in regular Worship Summaries after attending services.

Students are also asked to participate in the services themselves, by acolyting, reading, ushering, or assisting with communion. We will have five Youth-Led Worship Services this year. Each service counts as a worship participation.

We also expect students to serve their community. They are asked to serve at events at St. John's and outside the church.
